Last week I got the OWC Mercury Pro 6x Blu-ray LG Super Multi Blue External and inserted the LG GGW-H20L bluray burner and hd-dvd drive into the OWC case. I ordered some bluray disks from e-shop and other online stores, and just finished burning my first 85Gigabyte of data into only -2- bluray double layer discs !!! And it was quite fast, it took 45 minutes for the first bluray disc and about 25 minutes for the second (Total 85GB)
It operates quietly and very fast with the Firewire 800 connection from my iMac. Mac OS X 10.5.6 and Roxio Toast titanium 10 recognized the LG drive and the high capacity blu ray empty discs at once! It is an excellent drive which could be fitted inside or used external with a case like owc. Works on Mac and Vista.
My iMac’s dvd reader/writer has some problem and can not burn dvd’s correctly. So I’ve searched and found that OWC (Other World Computing) have some external dvd and blu ray burners working on a MAC (and Windows)

This external drive costs $400 but you can buy only the OWC case for $120 and then order seperately the LG GGW-H20L external blu ray burner for $250 so the total cost will be much lower than buying the bundle.
Intel’s hot X25-M SSD is one of the faster drives out there, and while it’s not surprising that a RAID 0 array of two of the $600 units is quick, it turns out it’s actually one of the fastest RAID 0 arrays ever. At least that’s the word from the crew at HotHardware, who say that two X25-Ms kicked out the fastest IOMeter numbers they’ve ever seen, and produced 396MB/s reads and 130MB/s writes. Yeah, damn. Anyone going to take the $1200 trip to Speedville?
