To install and use the RC, you’ll need to know how to:
Troubleshoot problems. You’re pretty much flying solo, so you’ll need to handle your own tech support, and rely on other RC testers for their know-how
Burn an ISO file to make an installation DVD
Install Windows
Backup and restore your PC
Set up a network
Create and use a system recovery disk
A PC with these system requirements:
1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Just in time for holidays…
…was released on December 17 for Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X
VirtualBox is a free (for personal use) and Open Source virtualization hypervisor that lets you run other operating systems like Microsoft Windows and Linux at the same time as Mac OS X. It does not require a reboot to change operatings systems like Apple’s Boot Camp which installs Windows on its on hard disk partition. There’s a couple of big feature additions in the jump from version 2.0 to 2.1. Here are the ones I found particularly interesting:
- Support for hardware virtualization. Intel VT-x is available on all Intel based Macs. So, this new feature is available to all Intel Mac users. This should translate to significantly improved performance.
- Experimental support for OpenGL 3D acceleration
- New NAT engine for better network performance (when configured for NAT access)

I was logged on with my daily account in Windows Vista and surfing some flash games page with background music.
I wanted to switched user to another account (I have 4 account in my windows setup) and when the system was changing users and the music was still playing, I thought "Haha, do you think that when the login procedure ends the music will still be hearing?" ….and by no surprise, after 1 minute when I logged in to the other account, the music from the Firefox flash page from my normal daily account was still playing…!!!
And of course I could not stop if UNLESS I DID LOG OFF/SWITCHED USER again and turn the flash Firefox’s page off…. Wowww!!! VISTA ROCKS… Now I will try to play something from every account in my system to have a mix-up….
Under programs look at "Change start up programs". Under XP there was MS Config but Windows Defender is much nicer about this. Now you can actually control what is getting loaded up on your computer.
As you can see here, I can now see what loads on start-up. The most common problem normal users run into is that after a period of time, their start up gets clogged full of junk and managing this can be really tedious. In Vista, that problem goes away thanks to the integration of Windows Defender into Control Panel. More advanced users will probably want something like TweakVista but as something that you know is there out of the box, this is very handy.
